Nordic Club 2014-2015 Season!
Get ready for an awesome new season! Our first informational meeting will be held September 10th at 7pm in the Whit classroom (just behind that little climbing wall.) We will discuss practice times, fundraising, and plan some awesome trips! If your looking to join the club this meeting is a must, we will show you how to sign up for the club and have everyone fill out health forms.
Our big goals for the year include joining the College Nordic Club race series in addition to the races we already attend. This will be an awesome year for anyone looking to ski!
See ya this fall!

Nordic Club Update 8/29/2011
Hey Everybody,
Summer break is over, which means the UNH Nordic Club is BACK! We will be holding an informational meeting in the classroom at the Hamel Rec Center on Wednesday, September 7, at 7:00 pm. All who are interested in joining should try to attend. This is for everyone, newcomers and returning members alike. If you cannot attend please let me know at [email protected] so I can give you any information that you may miss and fix you up with the right paperwork (there isn’t much of that, I promise). One of the most important immediate decisions we will be making at the meeting is to decide on our fall practice times. If you attend the meeting we may be better able to accommodate your schedule, as you will be there to tell us what works and doesn’t work. We will also discuss a community service project for this semester and t-shirt orders.
If you have a friend who is interested in the club don’t hesitate to bring them along. New members are always welcome. I look forward to seeing everyone there.
Good luck with classes,
-Travis

Nordic Club update 3/23/2011
Hey Everybody,
The Nordic Club will begin regular dry-land practices on Monday, March 28th. We will meet in front of the Whit (or just inside the doors) at 5:15 Monday through Friday for now. However, as the days get longer this time may be adjusted to fit more schedules. If you are interested please send us an email with the best times for practice to fit in your schedule.
Although this coming Sunday’s trip to Bretton Woods will be our last trip on snow for the season, we do have plenty of other activities planned for the remainder of the semester. On the first weekend in April we will be going hiking, most likely at Pawtuckaway. This can happen on either Saturday the 2nd or Sunday the 3rd, so please email your preference if you would like to go.
On April 16, a Saturday, we will have our very own rollerski clinic hosted by Coach Steve, most likely in A-lot. No experience is necessary and the team will provide rollerskis and some poles. We recommend that you bring your own boots and bike helmets but we do have some team boots and a few brand-new team helmets if you can’t bring your own. In addition to the new Bell Solar helmets we also purchased 10 new Brooks Nightlife reflective vests for rollerskiing, 5 of the S/M size and 5 of the L/XL size. Both are pictured in at the top left of this message. For the clinic you should also probably bring your own poles since the number of team poles is limited. We are in the process of ordering three more pairs of rollerskis, so it would be helpful if everyone lets us know what kind of binding (SNS or NNN) they use so we can order an appropriate ratio.
Later April, on either Tuesday the 19th or Tuesday the 26th, we will be playing laser tag. Please reply with your preference of date and let us know what time works best for you. We will be taking the bus most of the way there but we will have to walk a little bit, so we could even consider that practice. The laser tag is open until 10pm on the 19th and 9pm on the 26th, and the 19th is also during school vacation week for the high and middle schools, so keep that in mind.
Our final special activity for the semester will be a barbeque and social at Colin’s place on Sunday, May 1. He says there is a nice place to go for a run (about 5k) while we are there. During the social we will vote on a t-shirt design for orders in the fall.
One last note: Steve is trying to put together an intramural coed floor hockey team and he would like to know for sure that he has enough people before he goes to the captain’s meeting today at 5. Anyone (including your friends, roommates, classmates, etc.) who would like to play for his team should email him (see the link below). It would be best for Steve if you could let him know by midday today, but you may still play if you decide in the next week or so.
To recap, here is the list of things that you should do this week:
-Sign up TODAY for the trip to Bretton Woods on Sunday, March 27th
-Notify Steve at [email protected] preferably by THIS AFTERNOON if you can and would play coed intramural floor hockey.
-Email your preferred practice times to [email protected]
-Email your preference of April 2nd or 3rd for a hiking trip and of April 19th or 26th for laser tag
-Email your preferred binding (SNS or NNN) and let us know whether or not you would attend a rollerski clinic on campus on April 16th
Have a great week,
-Travis
Nordic Club Update 3/9/2011
Hey Everybody,
This message was originally sent from a “new” (as in resurrected from three years of dormancy) designated UNH Nordic Club email address, [email protected]. This is now the preferred email address for contacting club leaders because multiple leaders can access it. Also, this address or the appropriate Facebook event should be used to RSVP for club trips and activities.
Slowly but surely, this super-awesome Nordic Club website is being updated, so in the next few weeks you should check back to see what has been revised or improved. Weekly updates such as this one will be posted on the home page, perhaps even on a weekly basis.
After a fun ski at Bretton Woods this past Saturday, March 5th (pictures here), the snow outlook appears promising up in the mountains, despite the dramatic losses we have seen on campus in the last several days. With any luck, we will have one last skiing trip on Saturday, March 26th (the first Saturday after we return from break). This may become another trip to Bretton Woods since the snow was so great up there and that seems to be a traditional last ski trip of the year for the club, but if a special event for that date at another venue appears in the near future we may do that instead. Either way, mark your calendar for the 26th.
IMPORTANT: There will be a Nordic Club meeting on Tuesday, March 22nd, the first Tuesday after break, at 7:00pm. This is tentatively scheduled for the Heyliger Room in the Rec Center, but that is not yet a definite location. All members are encouraged to attend as we will be discussing spring trips, spring training, and other important Nordic Club-related topics. To quote my fourth grade self, “Be there or be square.” Check your email or the Nordic Club website for further info, especially the definite location.
Have a great week,
-Travis
UNH Nordic Club is back for the '10-'11 year!
9/9/2010
The UNH Nordic Club enters its 7th year as a recognized member of the UNH Campus Recreation Department. Lead by President Andrew Butler, Vice President Alex Stitt and newly appointed Vice President Jenia Badamshina, the Nordic Club sets its sights on the NENSA Club Standings.
After finishing 28th out of 61 clubs last year, 25th out of 57 Clubs the year before, the Nordic Club has reloaded over the summer and brought in a talented group of young skiers. Coach Steve Philips has high hopes for the club, "I believe we can be a Top 20 Club this year. Its not unreasonable. After we get some good hard training in this fall we will be ready to make noise in the winter." After racking up 33 points in the past two years Andrew is confident in the team, "We got together as a team and really made it a goal to push each other in training and support each other during the races. You can feel the energy and passion in this group. It is wonderful to see."
The Club will start team training next week at the University of New Hampshire.
